See it in your space (early access): your product on a photo of the customer's own wall, at its real size

See it in your space (/tools/see-it-in-your-space) lets a customer see a product in their own space before they buy: a sign on their storefront, a decal or mural on their wall, wall art, a light, an awning, window graphics, or furniture on their floor. They upload a photo or pick one of six sample spaces, place the product at its real size, fit it to the wall, match the light, and send you a quote request with the picture attached. The same picture tool can be a page on your aiKit website. It is in early access: open to a small group of aiKit accounts while it is tested; anyone else who opens the address gets a page-not-found.

The three tabs

  • Visualize: the picture tool. Use it with a customer, or to make a picture to send them.
  • Your products: what customers can place, and where quote requests go.
  • Saved: every picture you saved, each with its own share link. The tab names are in the address (?tab=products, ?tab=saved), so you can link straight to one.
2

Visualize, step 1: Pick your space

Upload a photo of your space takes any JPG or PNG from the device: a wall, a storefront, a window or a floor. The photo stays in the browser; nothing is uploaded until you save or send a quote request.

Or use one of ours shows six sample spaces aiKit made itself (Living room wall, Dark accent wall, Office lobby, Brick storefront, Showroom floor, Cafe wall). They are drawn by our own code, not photos, and carry no logos or brand names. Each already knows its scale, so products show at their real size right away. On the storefront, the door is about 7 ft tall.

3

Visualize, step 2: Pick the product

Your products appear as tiles; press one to place it. Under the tiles, Size, Finish and Effect show the choices you set up for that product. Changing the size keeps the product where it is and redraws it at the new real size. A finish with a color repaints a one-color design (for vinyl or letter colors); Effect changes the surface (No effect keeps the picture as it is): Lit glows, Matte is flat, Gloss has a soft shine, Metal is brushed, Frosted looks like etched glass.

Use my own logo or art places any PNG, JPG or SVG the customer brings, for example their logo as a sign. A plain white background around a JPG logo is cleared automatically. How wide will it be? sets its real width in inches.

Moving and fitting the product

  • Drag the product to move it. The round handle on the bottom-right corner resizes it; the white handle above it turns it.
  • With the picture selected, the arrow keys move it (hold Shift for bigger steps), plus and minus resize it, and the [ and ] keys turn it.
  • Step 3, Fine-tune angle and light (press it to open): Turn rotates it flat on the wall; Angle left or right and Tilt back or forward give it perspective when the wall in the photo is at an angle.
  • Corners (above the picture) shows a handle on each corner; drag each one onto the wall's corners for an exact fit. Your corner changes stay when you hide them.
  • True size puts the product back to its real size after you resized it by hand. Reset puts everything back to the start.

True size on your own photo: Measure

A customer's photo has no scale until you mark one. Press Measure, then drag a line along something whose length you know, from one end to the other. Then type how long it is (inches, feet, cm or meters) or press a common length: A door 80 in, A countertop 36 in, A ceiling 96 in, A parking space 9 ft. Press Use this length. From then on every product shows at its real size.

Size labels prints the real width and height on the picture next to the product. When you resize by hand or move corners, the label shows ≈ in front, because the shape no longer matches the real size exactly. Before you measure a photo, no size label is shown, since there is nothing to measure against.

6

Visualize, step 3: Make it fit the photo

Match the photo's light looks at the photo around the product and sets Brightness, Warmth and Shadow so it looks like it belongs there. It runs by itself when you place a product; press it again after moving to a darker or brighter spot. The Brightness, Warmth and Shadow sliders under Fine-tune angle and light adjust it by hand.

Night (above the picture) darkens the photo like evening. A product with a Lit effect glows and lights the wall around it; other products go dark, as they would. The handles and size labels hide in Night so the picture reads clean; turn Night off to adjust again.

Compare up to 3 looks

After each choice you like, press Add this look. Up to 3 looks are kept as small pictures with what each one is (product, size, finish, effect, night). Side by side opens them together; Use this look puts one back on the picture; the x removes one. Saving and quote requests include every look.

Request a quote, save, share, download

  • Request a quote with this picture opens a short form (name, email, optional phone, and About the job, filled in with what the picture shows). Send my request puts it in the Requests inbox of the website chosen under Quote requests go to, with the picture of every look attached, marked as a quote. If no website is chosen yet, the tool says so.
  • Save and get a share link saves the picture (and every look) and shows a link to copy. Anyone with the link sees the pictures, can download them, and, when a quote inbox is set, can send a quote request with the picture from that page. The Saved tab lists them; Delete turns a link off.
  • Download picture saves a JPG with a strip at the bottom: what it shows, and a note that real colors and light vary.
9

Your products tab

  • Quote requests go to: the aiKit website whose Requests inbox receives quote requests from the tool and from shared links. Nowhere yet hides the quote form.
  • Add a product: a picture (PNG or SVG with a see-through background, shot or drawn straight on; SVGs are turned into a sharp picture and the file itself isn't kept), a name, and the real width in inches. The height is optional and otherwise follows the picture's shape. A picture with no see-through background gets a warning, because its box would show on the wall.
  • Size options: up to 8 sizes with a name, width and optional height. Finishes: up to 8, each optionally with a Recolor color. Effects: up to 3, each a look (Lit, Matte, Gloss, Metal, Frosted) with the name customers see.
  • Show on my websites: tick the websites whose See it in your space page offers this product. Changes show there within a minute without a rebuild.
  • Edit changes a product; Delete product asks you to press again before it removes it.

On your website

Add See it in your space from the Catalog to a website. The page has the same picture tool, with the products you ticked for that website, and a quote form below it. When you have no products on that website yet, visitors place their own logo or art. A visitor's photo never leaves their device until they press Send my request; then the request and the picture land on that website's Requests tab like any quote request. Phones can also share the picture straight from the page.

Limits

  • It places a flat picture of the product on a photo. It is not a 3D or augmented-reality view.
  • True size on a customer's photo is only as exact as the length they mark. A wall at a steep angle needs the corners fitted by hand.
  • It is a preview: real colors, light and materials vary a little, and the downloaded picture says so.
