Word Kit (/tools/word-kit, in the Tool library under Marketing & content) makes words that didn't exist before. Describe a feeling, moment or idea that has no word yet, and you get three new words to choose from, each written like a real dictionary entry. Keep one and it gets its own painted picture. You can change it with one click or in your own words, hear it said, copy it, share a link or a share card, and, if you choose, put it in the public word gallery at infinitesoldier.com. It is open to every signed-in account and uses your account's tokens, the same tokens every aiKit AI tool uses. This guide walks every part of the screen.
Open Word Kit →What needs a word? takes your idea in plain words, typed or spoken with the microphone button, up to 300 characters. The more specific the moment, the better the word: "the relief when a hard conversation goes better than you feared" works better than "relief". The idea starters under the box fill it with an example, so you can see how it works first. Ctrl or ⌘ + Enter starts it.
Language picks the language of the word and its entry: English, Spanish, French, German, Italian, Portuguese, Hebrew, Arabic, Russian, Hindi, Japanese, Chinese or Other. A word in a language with its own script is written in that script, with an English-letter pronunciation. Category (Emotions, Connections, Family, Nature, Wellness, Whimsy, Adventure, Art, Business, Technology, Spirit, Curios, or Any), Style (Playful, Poetic, Elegant, Modern, Formal, Casual, Techy, Mythic) and Tone (Fun, Inspirational, Thoughtful, Businesslike, Serious, Humorous, Tender, Bold) steer the result; Surprise me leaves it open.
Who it's for: Everyone keeps the word classroom-safe, nothing a teacher couldn't read aloud. Grown-ups allows wry adult humor about work, exhaustion, parenting, dating and money, with mild swearing when it truly lands, but never sexual or crude content. Give it a positive spin (on by default) makes the definition and examples hopeful. Anything else? takes any request in your own words, such as "make it sound Italian", "under 8 letters" or "for a bakery", and it is followed as a rule. If part of a request can't be met, a Not done yet note says what was left out and why.
Coin three words shows its cost (about 1 token) before you press it.
While it works, the screen says what is happening: listening for the feeling, trying sounds that fit, writing three dictionary entries. Then three cards appear, each a different word with its pronunciation, part of speech, definition and an example. Under them, the line says how many tokens the three used. Three more words makes a fresh set with the same choices. Keep (the word) saves it to Your words and starts its picture at once (2 tokens). The thumbs under the three cards rate them for the aiKit team.
The word card shows the picture on one side and the entry on the other (stacked on a phone): the word split into syllables, its pronunciation, part of speech, category and language, the definition, two example sentences, Like this (two similes), Nearest words (existing words close in meaning), Its family (other forms of the new word), Opposite and Where it comes from (a made-up origin).
Every kept word gets a picture, painted for its meaning with no letters in it. While it paints, the picture area says so and shows the steps. New picture paints another one in a different look (2 tokens). If a picture doesn't come through, nothing is charged and Make its picture tries again.
The bar above the card: Back to the three returns to the options you came from. Hear it says the word's pronunciation out loud (twice, slowly) in aiKit's voice; it is made once and kept, so listening again is free. Copy copies the word, its pronunciation and meaning. Share link turns on a private link (aiKit.ai/word/...) that shows only the word, its picture and your pen name, never your account; Copy link copies it again, and Turn it off makes the old link stop working. Share card saves a 1080 × 1350 picture of the word for posts and stories (on a phone it opens the share sheet). It is drawn in your browser and uses no tokens.
One-click changes: Funnier, Deeper, Shorter word (a punchier word for the same idea), More poetic, For kids (simple words for ages 6 to 10) and For work (a word a team could use at work). Change it takes any request in your own words, such as "make it about the ocean" or "make the example about a dog". Each change uses about 1 token and keeps what you didn't ask to change. If the change makes it a different word, a note says so and suggests New picture so the picture matches. If part of a change can't be made, the Not done yet note comes first.
A word that was in the gallery leaves it when you change it, because the new words haven't been checked yet. Share it again to put the new version in.
Nothing you make is public unless you choose it. Share to gallery asks for the name to show it under: a first name or a pen name, never your email. Then a quick safety check reads the whole entry and the name. Words with slurs, sexual content, real private people (a classmate, coworker, ex or neighbor), harassment, graphic violence or self-harm don't pass, and the box says why so you can change it and share again. A word that someone already put in the gallery doesn't pass either; Shorter word or "coin a sibling word" makes a new one. The check is free.
A shared word appears in the New Word Gallery at infinitesoldier.com (Infinite Soldier is a separate site with its own look), signed with your pen name and a Made with aiKit link back to Word Kit. Everyone words show on the all-ages shelf; Grown-ups words show only to visitors who open the grown-up shelf. See it there opens it on that site. Take it out removes it from the gallery at once.
