Plans & billing: paying, changing plans, your card, and canceling

Settings → Billing is where an account's owner pays for a plan, changes it, updates the card, adds Hub storage, and cancels. Every price and date on it comes from aiKit's server, and the screen says what will be charged, and when, before you press anything. Free needs no card, ever.

Where to find it

Open Settings in the sidebar and press Open next to Billing, or go straight to aikit.ai/home/billing. In the Hub, Settings → Plan & storage links to it: Choose next to a plan opens Billing with that plan picked (the address ends in ?plan=…, so the link can be shared), and Add it next to a storage add-on opens Billing at More Hub storage.

If card payments aren't switched on for aiKit yet, a note at the top says so: nothing is charged, your plan stays as it is, and the Hub's Ask for this buttons send plan requests to the aiKit team. Accounts on a complimentary or aiKit team plan see a note that there's nothing to pay.

2

Your plan

The first card shows your plan and its monthly price, a status (Active, Payment due, Ends on a date, or No card on file), what the plan includes (team members, client seats, projects, storage, largest file), your next charge (amount and date, including any storage add-on), the card on file by brand and last four digits with an Update card link, and any scheduled change, such as a move to a smaller plan on your renewal day, with a link to stay on your current plan.

3

Choosing a plan and paying

Choose a plan shows Free and the five paid plans ($28.88, $48.88, $88.88, $148.88 and $248.88 a month) with their limits. Picking one opens a summary in plain words, for example: You'll be charged $28.88 today and every month on the 4th until you cancel. (Plans started on the 29th to 31st renew on that day, or on the month's last day in shorter months.)

Under it is the card form: card number, expiration (MM/YY), security code and billing ZIP. Mistakes are caught before anything is sent, with a note under the field (for example, That card has expired). The card goes straight from your browser to the payment processor; aiKit receives a one-time token, never the number. Press Pay and start: the first month is charged on the spot, so a declined card is shown right away (Your card wasn't accepted) and nothing changes. Adding a card needs a confirmed email: if yours isn't confirmed yet, the form is replaced by Send the confirmation email, and you come back after opening the link. For your security, after 5 cards are turned down in a day, adding a card pauses on that account for 24 hours, and after 10 in an hour from one network, it pauses from that network for an hour (email hello@aikit.ai for help sooner). When it goes through, your new limits start at once, a receipt is emailed, and the charge appears in Billing history.

4

Changing plans

With a plan running, the same list reads Change plan. Pick another plan and the summary says exactly what happens. Moving up starts now: you pay the price difference for the rest of the current month (none if it's under 50 cents), then the new price on your usual day; the button reads Pay $… and upgrade. Moving down charges nothing today: you keep your current plan until the paid month ends, then the smaller plan and price start; the button reads Switch on (date). If you're over a limit of the smaller plan at that point, nothing is deleted; new uploads or invites pause until you make room.

5

Updating your card, and missed payments

Update card opens the same card form (it also needs a confirmed email). Saving a new card charges nothing; your next charge goes to it, for the plan and any storage add-on. If a step after a payment ever fails, the screen says exactly what happened to the money (for example, that the charge was voided), and never asks you to pay twice.

If a monthly payment doesn't go through, you get an email and a yellow note at the top of Billing. Your plan keeps working for 15 days. Updating the card in that time collects the missed month right away (the button says Save card and pay with the amount) and puts everything back to normal. After 15 days with no update, the account moves to Free; nothing is deleted.

6

More Hub storage

On paid plans, three monthly add-ons are listed: +50 GB for $8.88, +150 GB for $18.88, +500 GB for $48.88. When the next plan up costs about the same or less and holds as much, the add-on shows that advice and a Choose the … plan button first, with Add … anyway beside it. Adding one charges it for the rest of the current month, then it renews with your plan. A bigger add-on starts now (you pay the difference for the rest of the month); a smaller one starts at renewal. Remove stops its charges, and the extra space stays until the paid month ends.

7

Billing history and receipts

Billing history lists every charge (first month, renewals, upgrades, add-ons, a collected missed payment) with its date, amount and receipt number, plus changes like a cancel or a new card. Each charge also sends a receipt email with the card used and your next charge date.

8

Canceling

Cancel plan sits at the bottom (picking Free under Change plan does the same). A confirmation says what happens, with Keep my plan as the default button. Renewals stop right away and you keep your plan until the end of the month you paid for; then the account moves to Free. A storage add-on is canceled with it. Nothing is deleted: projects, files, clients and websites stay. Until that date, Keep my plan on the Plan card undoes the cancel without charging anything then. A plan whose payment is overdue ends at once when canceled, since that month wasn't paid.
