Signatures with a paper trail

Each signer agrees to sign electronically, confirms a one-time code sent to their email, and adopts a typed or drawn signature before pressing Sign. Every step is recorded with the time, IP address and device.

The document's SHA-256 fingerprint is fixed when you send it, and every event is chained to the one before it. The sealed PDF ends with a Certificate of Completion listing all of it.

    Click any text to change it, adjust the price table, and place signature, initials, date, text and checkbox boxes for each signer. It saves as you go.

Are electronic signatures legally binding in the US?
In general, yes. The U.S. ESIGN Act and the Uniform Electronic Transactions Act, adopted by nearly every state, give electronic signatures the same legal effect as handwritten ones when the signer agrees to do business electronically, shows intent to sign, and a record is kept. aiKit Contract Studio is built around those three points: a consent step with a disclosure, a clear Sign statement after the signer adopts a signature, and a sealed PDF with a Certificate of Completion. Some documents, such as wills and certain family-law or real-estate papers, may still need a wet signature or a notary. This is general information, not legal advice.
Is there a free way to get contracts and proposals signed online?
aiKit Contract Studio comes with a free aiKit account. Sending, signing, the email check, the audit trail and the sealed PDF use no AI. The optional assistant, which drafts documents and makes changes in plain words, uses your account's monthly AI allowance. It covers the everyday work most businesses need: proposals with optional extras, service agreements, NDAs, releases, work orders and change orders, several signers in order, reminders, and a certificate on every signed document.
How does Contract Studio prove who signed?
Each signer opens a private link made only for them, agrees to sign electronically, and then confirms a six-digit code sent to their email address before they can sign. The code expires after 10 minutes and locks after five wrong tries. Every step, including opening the document, the consent, the email check and the signature, is recorded with the time, the IP address and the device, and printed on the Certificate of Completion at the end of the sealed PDF.
Can my client sign on a phone?
Yes. The signing page is built for phones first: one column, large buttons, a bar at the bottom that always shows what's next, and a signature you can type or draw with a finger. Uploaded PDFs show page by page. Your client needs no account and installs nothing.
Can I check later that a signed PDF wasn't changed?
Yes. Every sealed PDF has a SHA-256 fingerprint stored by aiKit. Anyone can open aikit.ai/sign/verify and drop the PDF in; the file is checked on their own device, and only its fingerprint is compared. An exact copy shows a match with the document's number and completion time. Any change, even re-saving the PDF, shows no match.
How do I send a contract for signature in aiKit?
Open Contract Studio at aikit.ai/tools/contract-studio. Start from a template (proposal, service agreement, NDA, photo release, work order or change order), upload your own PDF or Word file, start from a Quote Studio quote, or describe the document and let the assistant draft it. Edit it right on the page, then open Signers & send on the right: add each signer's name and email, choose whether they sign in order, and pick how long the link works. A checklist says what's missing. Press Send for signature. If email is set up for your account, each signer gets an email; otherwise open Status and copy each person's private link.
What does the signer have to do?
Open the private link on any phone or computer, with no account. First they agree to use electronic records and signatures (the disclosure explains their right to a paper copy and how to withdraw). Then they confirm a six-digit code sent to their email. They read the document, fill in the boxes outlined in color, tick any optional extras on a proposal, adopt a typed or drawn signature and initials, and press Sign under a short statement that it's their signature. When everyone has signed they can download the sealed PDF from the same link for 30 days.
What is the Certificate of Completion?
The last pages of every sealed Contract Studio PDF. It lists the document, its number and envelope ID, when it was created, sent and completed, three SHA-256 fingerprints (the document as sent, the signed pages, and the head of the audit trail), and for each signer: their masked email, how they were identified, when they agreed to sign electronically, when they opened and signed, the kind of signature, the IP address and the device. A numbered event history follows. Anyone can check a copy at aikit.ai/sign/verify.
Can I change a document after I send it?
No, and that's on purpose: a sent document is frozen and fingerprinted, so every signer signs exactly the same thing. To fix something, open Status, press Void this document and give a reason (signers see it and their links stop working), then press Make a corrected copy. The copy opens as a draft with the same signers, ready to edit and send again.
Can Contract Studio tell my other software when a document is signed?
Yes. In Contract Studio settings, Webhooks & API, add an https address and pick the events: sent, viewed, signed, declined, completed or voided. Each request is signed with an HMAC-SHA256 of the time and body using your secret, shown once. Send test checks your endpoint and the recent deliveries are listed. Apps like Zapier can also use the Contract Studio API with an aiKit API key to list documents, create and send one from a template, download a sealed PDF, and subscribe to events.
Can I send the same release or form to many people at once?
Yes. In Contract Studio, open a draft, go to Send, then More ways to send and Send to many people. Paste one person per line (a name and email, or rows copied from a spreadsheet). Each person gets their own copy with their name filled in, their own private link, and their own sealed record and certificate, up to 200 at a time. You can copy each link or download them all as a CSV. For a front desk or event table, Walk-in link & QR makes one public address and QR code: each visitor types their name and email, confirms a code sent to that email, and signs their own copy.
Can a client sign in person on my phone or tablet?
Yes. When a document is out for signature, open Status and press Sign in person next to the signer whose turn it is. Tick that they're with you and that you checked who they are, then press Hand over this device. They agree to sign electronically and sign with their own taps, and the Certificate of Completion records that you confirmed their identity in person. When they finish, the screen asks them to hand the device back.
Does Contract Studio check my contract for missing or unfair terms?
Contract Studio's Review tab runs an instant check on every document: it flags a missing payment, cancellation, liability or change-order clause for that kind of document, one-sided wording such as "sole discretion" or one-way indemnity, missing prices, blanks and missing signature boxes, each with a starting clause you can add in one press. Explain this document adds a plain-English read of each part and other terms worth checking, using your AI allowance. A clause library of common clauses (deposits, refunds, late payment, cancellation, liability, confidentiality, ownership, disputes and more) is one press away. It is not legal advice.
