Say what the file needs. Get a print-ready PDF and a proof.

Drop in a file or a logo and say it in plain words: add bleed, resize, check it, make a notepad. Printer’s Helper is print preflight software that makes the fix too: it builds the file to exact print numbers, shows what it changed, and sends a proof your customer approves.

Printer’s Helper: say what you need in plain words, add files, pick the printing setup, or choose Fix a file, Make a proof, Check a file, or Start a new file

What you get

Make, fix, or resize files by saying what you need.

Ask the way you'd ask a prepress tech

Type "add 1/8 in bleed to this business card" or "resize this postcard to 5 x 7 and keep the design." Shortcuts help, but any request in your own words works.

Your customer's art is never redrawn

Every change is an exact print step: bleed from the art's own edge, art moved inside the safe area, PDF boxes set. Low resolution and RGB color are reported, never quietly changed.

A file check that shows its work

Each check lists what was measured, the rule, where on the page, and how to fix it. Press a fix and the new version shows the before and after, so a fix is proven, not claimed.

New pieces from a logo and a few words

Notepads in nine layouts, 13 ready NCR form templates, business cards in ten layouts, envelopes that match the letterhead. Only your words go on the piece; nothing is made up.

A proof your customer signs from a phone

Send any version as a private link. Your customer marks up the exact spot, ticks a checklist, and types their name to approve. No account needed on their side.

Your printer's numbers, not a guess

Pick our product line, industry standard, or a printer you saved with its own bleed, safe area, gripper, and templates. Every proof says which rules it used.

What uses AI, and what’s free

The AI that reads your request and builds each version runs inside your Printer’s Helper jobs. On a free account that AI work also counts toward the one monthly AI allowance shared by every aiKit tool. A job includes 5 changes, and versions that come back Not done yet never count. Reading the file check, downloading the files a version made, and sending the proof link need no AI.

How it works

From first click to finished, in 5 steps.

  1. Drop a file or describe the piece

Add up to 5 files (PDF, AI, EPS, SVG, Word, Publisher, TIFF, PSD, PNG, JPG, HEIC, and more, up to 60 MB each), or pick a product and add your logo.

  2. Say what it needs

Type or speak the request. If something that changes the file is missing, like the sticker size, it asks one question at a time.

  3. Check the version it makes

You get a proof with the cut and safe lines, the print-ready PDF, a step-by-step list of what ran, and a file check. It reviews its own proof against your words before showing it, and says "Not done yet" for anything it missed.

  4. Ask for changes in plain words

"Make the logo a little bigger." Each change is a new version; earlier versions stay in the job to download or send.

  5. Send the proof and download the files

Send for approval opens a drawer to email the proof or copy the link. Download the print-ready PDF, a proof PNG, PDF/X-4, JPG, PNG, TIFF, or every version in one ZIP.

Who it’s for

How different businesses use Printer’s Helper

Print, promo & signs

Fix a morning's worth of customer files

Harbor Line Print Co. gets six postcards with no bleed and one flyer with crop marks. Each goes in with one line, "add 1/8 in bleed" or "remove crop marks," and comes back as a print-ready PDF with a file check and a proof link.

Trades & service businesses

Work-order forms from a logo

A heating and cooling company needs 3-part work orders numbered from 1001. The HVAC form template comes with the trade's fields and checklist, the glued edge kept clear, and an FPO file showing the printer where the numbers go.

Marketing & agencies

One design, every size the client asked for

An agency resizes a client's event flyer to letter, half-letter, and 5 x 7, then checks each against the printer's saved bleed and safe area before sending one proof for sign-off.

Retail, restaurants & e-commerce

Notepads and stickers from the shop logo

Maple Street Bakery wants logo notepads and 2 in round stickers. The notepad comes in nine layouts to pick from; the sticker comes with its cut line as its own file.

Real estate

Yard signs and rack cards ready for the printer

A brokerage sets up yard signs and 4 x 9 rack cards at the printer's exact sizes, with the safe area marked, and gets a proof the agent approves from a phone.

Events, lighting & AV

Numbered raffle tickets for a fundraiser

An event team sets up raffle tickets with a stub and a perforation line. The press adds the numbers, and the FPO file shows exactly where they print.

Ideal for

  • Designers and agencies who need a piece made, fixed, or resized to an exact size
  • Print shops fixing customer files every day
  • Business owners who need a notepad, envelope, or sticker from a logo

Good to know

  • Not for: Illustration or photo retouching; it never redraws art
  • Not for: Making a blurry image sharp
  • The AI can misread a file or a request. Always check the proof before it prints.
  • Words come only from you; it never invents text for your files.
  • Low-resolution images and RGB color are reported, never quietly fixed. Photos print in full color (CMYK), not as PMS plates.
  • Custom die cuts are approximate until your printer confirms them.

Questions

Printer’s Helper: questions people ask

How do I make a customer's logo print-ready?
In aiKit Printer’s Helper, drop the logo in and say what it's for, like "put this logo on a 2 inch round sticker" or "make a notepad from this logo." The logo is placed at the product's exact size with its bleed and safe area, and you get a proof, a print-ready PDF, and a file check. Printer’s Helper never redraws a logo. If the file is too low resolution, the check says so with the measured ppi. Improve the resolution then looks for a sharper copy of the same picture, or vector art of it, among the files in the job. If none is there, Draft a note to the customer writes the request for a better file from the measured numbers.
Can AI resize a print file without stretching the design?
Yes. In aiKit Printer’s Helper, add the file and type the new size, like "resize this postcard to 5 x 7 and keep the design." The design is scaled to the new size and kept intact, with bleed and the safe area set for that size. When the new shape is different from the old one, the art either leaves space or gets cropped, and the proof shows which, so you see it before anything goes to press. Ask for a change in plain words if you want it handled another way. Each change is a new version, and the earlier versions stay in the job.
Can Printer’s Helper open Word, Publisher, or CorelDRAW files?
Yes. aiKit Printer’s Helper reads Word, PowerPoint, Publisher, CorelDRAW, and OpenDocument files and turns them into a PDF when they arrive. Their file check adds a plain note that fonts and layout can shift in the conversion, so read the proof carefully. It also reads PDF, AI saved with PDF content, EPS, SVG, TIFF, flattened PSD, PNG, JPG, HEIC, WebP, GIF, and BMP, up to 60 MB each and 5 files at a time. Files only their own app opens, like InDesign, Canva, or Figma, get a note with the exact menu steps to save a print PDF, before anything uploads.
What is the best print preflight software for a print shop?
It depends on whether you only want problems flagged or fixed too. Desktop preflight software checks a PDF against a profile and leaves the fixing to a person. aiKit Printer’s Helper runs in the browser, checks each file for size, bleed, resolution, fonts, and color, and then makes the fix you ask for in plain words, such as "add 1/8 in bleed" or "resize this to 5 x 7." Every fix is a new version with a before-and-after file check, so the change is shown, not claimed. It never redraws art, and low resolution or RGB color is reported rather than quietly changed. It also sends a proof link your customer approves. A free aiKit account includes 5 jobs a month with no card, so it also works as free preflight software.
Can I preflight a PDF online without installing software?
Yes. aiKit Printer’s Helper works in a web browser, so there is nothing to install on each computer. Drop in up to 5 files at once, up to 60 MB each, and ask for a check or a fix. The file check lists each finding with what was measured, the rule it was measured against, where on the page it is, and how to fix it, graded Looks good, Worth a look, or Must fix. Pick the rules: industry standard, our product line, or a printer you saved with its own bleed, safe area, and gripper. View full report downloads the check as a PDF, or ask it to add bleed to a PDF and get back a print-ready PDF with the print boxes set.
What's included with Printer’s Helper on a free aiKit account?
A free aiKit account includes 5 Printer’s Helper jobs every month, with no card. A job is one piece, such as a business card or a postcard, and it includes 5 changes after its first version; before a sixth change you're asked whether to use 1 more job. Versions that come back Not done yet never count. Each job gives you a proof with the cut and safe lines, a print-ready PDF, a file check, a step-by-step list of what ran, and downloads such as PDF/X-4, JPG, PNG, and TIFF. Sending the proof link to your customer is part of the job. Unused free jobs don't roll over to the next month.
Does Printer’s Helper work with Customer Proofs, Quote Studio, and the Hub?
Yes. In aiKit, any Printer’s Helper version can go out through Customer Proofs, where each person gets a private link to pin comments and approve with their typed name, and people you've sent to before are offered again. The company you pick for a job, with its logo, comes from the same list Quote Studio uses, and a spec-sheet quote links straight to a Printer’s Helper job for its print files. On an aiKit Hub board, a card can link a prepress job and show its live status. Logos and photos for a new piece can come from your Graphics Library or a Logo Kit brand kit.
Can Printer’s Helper fix files customers upload on my website?
Yes, on an aiKit website. Every print file a customer sends through the Send us your file page is checked as it arrives, with no AI and nothing to press: size, bleed, resolution, fonts, and colors, graded Looks print-ready, Worth a look, or Must fix on the Requests tab. Press Fix it in Printer’s Helper under a file and Printer’s Helper opens with that file already added. Nothing runs until you say what it needs and press Start, so a file that only needed a look never uses a job. Your customers never see the check result.
Is there a free AI prepress tool for print shops?
Yes. aiKit Printer’s Helper gives every account 5 free AI prepress jobs each calendar month, with no credit card and no website needed. It's built for designers, print shops, promo companies, agencies, and business owners: anyone making a file that has to be exactly right, whether it goes to a printer or gets used somewhere else. Here's how it works. Sign in, open Printer’s Helper (from the Tool library, a kit, or aikit.ai/tools/printers-helper), drop in a file, and say what the job needs the way you'd tell a prepress tech: "add bleed to this business card" or "check this flyer before it goes to press." You get back a proof, a print-ready file, a list of what was changed, and a plain-language file check. Follow-up changes to the same job are included and don't use another job. The Print & promo starter kit on Home puts Printer’s Helper, customer proofs, and quote requests in one kit in a click.
What happened to Prepress Studio in aiKit?
It's the same tool with a new name: Printer’s Helper (October 2026). Your jobs, customers, shop profile and allowance are all still there. It now lives at aikit.ai/tools/printers-helper, and the old addresses (/tools/printers-helper and /tools/print-proof) still open it, so saved links and links in emails keep working.
How does Printer’s Helper show a job that makes many files, like a PDF split into 26 posters?
As one organized list, in the same order as the pages of your original file. When a version makes more than two files (for example a 26-page PDF split into 26 single-page posters, each with its own bleed, or a set of two-sided postcards), the version shows every file as a numbered card: a picture of the file, its full file name with the part that tells it apart in bold, its size, its own check result (Passed, Needs a look, or Must fix, with what was found written on the card), a box to select it, and its own download. Two-sided pieces show the Front and Back side by side under the piece's name, so a front never gets mixed up with another card's back. The header stays in view while you scroll and shows the count ("26 files, all passed" or "1 must fix, 1 needs a look, 24 passed"), Download all (one ZIP of every print file plus the combined proof), and Combined proof (every file in one PDF to look over or send). Filters show All, Needs a look, or Passed, and Find a file narrows a long list by name. Tap any picture to open it large in the full-screen viewer, with zoom, Previous and Next, the file name always in view, Show back or Show front on a two-sided piece, and Download for that file; the arrow keys also step through the files, and the open file is in the page's address, so the link opens straight to it. If a very long file didn't finish in one run, the list says which pages are left, with a Continue where it stopped button that finishes them. A version with one or two files keeps the usual single proof view.
Can I zoom in on the art in Printer’s Helper without the proof lines on it?
Yes. Tap the proof picture (or View large above it) and the version opens full screen as the clean art: the print-ready PDF itself, drawn in your browser, with no cut line, safe-area dashes, bleed shading, or labels. Zoom with the + and − buttons, Fit, 100% (the printed size on your screen), or 200%; with a mouse wheel, a trackpad pinch, or two fingers on a phone; or double-click or double-tap a spot to zoom straight to it. Drag to move around, and the PDF is drawn again, sharper, as you zoom. When you want to check placement, turn on Show trim & safe lines to draw the red cut line, the blue dashed safe area, and the shaded bleed over the art; it starts off. Previous version and Next version (or the left and right arrow keys) step through the versions without closing the viewer, and Esc closes it. For example, on a business card you can zoom to 200% on the phone number to check the small type, then switch the lines on to see that it sits inside the safe area. The same viewer opens a single file of a version that made many files.
How do I download every version of a Printer’s Helper job at once?
Press Download all beside the proof (or in the Every version list next to the V1, V2, V3 buttons). You get one ZIP with each version's print-ready PDF and a proof PNG, named by job and version, such as business-card-v01-print.pdf, business-card-v01-proof.png, business-card-v02-print.pdf, and so on. The proof PNG is a smaller picture of the art, 1,600 pixels on its long side, made from the print-ready PDF with no proof lines, labels, or logo, so it is easy to email or post as the proof. A version that made many print files (a long PDF split into one poster per page) keeps each file's own name after the version, so nothing gets mixed up. Each version also has its own Download print-ready PDF and Download proof (PNG), beside the proof, in the Every version list, and under its line in the conversation (which opens it large when tapped), and each file card of a many-file version has its own proof PNG button. If a file can't be added to the ZIP, the download still finishes, with a short note inside naming the missing file so you can download it on its own. Only you can download your jobs' files.
What happens when a Printer’s Helper job takes longer than a few minutes?
It pauses, and nothing made so far is lost. Each turn has a few minutes to work; a big job, like splitting a long PDF into one file per page, can run past that. The conversation then says "This took longer than 3 minutes, so I paused. Everything made so far is saved." with a Continue where it stopped button. Press it and the assistant picks up the pages that were left and finishes them, gathering a split's pages into one version rather than one version per page. Typing continue in the change box does the same thing.
Is Printer’s Helper only for printing, or can designers use it too?
Designers use it every day, and it isn't only for printing. Printer’s Helper is a way to make files that are ready to use: start a new piece from a logo and words (business cards, notepads, labels, signs, menus, and more), set up a blank template at an exact size with bleed and safe lines, resize or convert a file, change it to one color or black only, or check it before it goes anywhere. You say what you need in plain words, like "make a 5.5 x 8.5 notepad from this logo" or "resize this postcard to 6 x 9," and you get a version with a proof and the file, plus copies such as JPG, PNG, TIFF, or PDF/X-4 when that version can make them. Changes to the same job make new versions, so you can compare and go back. Print shops use the same tool to fix customer files and send proofs for approval.
