Background removal

Background removal cuts the subject out of a photo and makes everything behind it transparent, ready to place on any color or scene.

Background removal separates the main subject of a photo, such as a person, product or pet, from everything behind it. The result is usually a PNG with a see-through background, so the subject can sit on a plain color, a new scene or a designed layout without a box around it.

Clean cut-outs make product photos look consistent, help social posts and flyers look designed rather than snapped, and let you reuse one good photo in many layouts. Doing it by hand with a selection tool takes time, especially around hair and soft edges.

Say a boutique called Linen & Lark photographs new handbags on a cluttered back table. With the backgrounds removed, every bag sits on the same soft cream color for the website and the weekly email.

In aiKit, Magic Canvas removes a background in one click on your own device, so it uses none of your AI allowance; the first use downloads a free model once. Pro Designer also has remove background and select subject, and Photo Studio can make pictures with see-through backgrounds.
